
Birdwatching in Port Blair is aimed towards experienced birders and listers who are visiting with family and are short on time to spend on a dedicated birding tour. These extensive birding day tours are done as a private tour only and led by any of the available naturalists from our team.
Sightings on day tours vary significantly depending on the bird activity on the given day. So, if you have a long list of targets or wish to cover all or the majority of endemics , we strongly suggest opting for our dedicated Andaman Birding Tour.
Note: We don’t use call playback on these tours, and we don’t like and entertain our naturalists being pressured to use playback by customers either. It’s a strictly No Playback Tour,
Birdwatching in Port Blair: Extensive Birding
Birdwatching in Andaman : Full Day Tour
It generally involves two birding sessions. Morning session (3 hrs) in the forest habitat and an afternoon session (3 hrs) at a wetland.
Our bird guide will receive you from your hotel in Port Blair at 0545 hrs. We drive to Chidiyatapu for our morning birding session (30 minutes drive). We will spend 2 hours on various forest patches around Chidiyatapu, walking along the forest roads & trails. You are likely to come across a few Andaman endemic birds, like Andaman Shama, Andaman Bulbul, White-headed Starling. Andaman Coucal. Andaman Drongo and a few resident species like the Freckle-breasted Woodpecker, Long-tailed Parakeet, Ornate Sunbird, etc. We then start our return back to Port Blair by 0830 hrs.
Post-lunch, we start for Sippighat wetlands at 02.30 PM. Here we see the water birds and waders, namely the Andaman Teal. Cotton Teal, Watercock, Pacific Golden Plover, White-bellied Sea Eagle, Eastern Yellow Wagtail, Long-toed Stint, Red-necked Stint, Whimbrel, Yellow and Cinnamon Bittern, Pin-tailed Snipe, etc. Our bird guide will then drop you back at the hotel by 05.30 PM.
Full Day Tour Price:
The day tour is ₹13,000 for 1-2 people and an extra ₹1000 per additional person (up to 5 people).
The cost includes an experienced naturalist, vehicle rental, an experienced safari driver, hotel pickup & drop from Port Blair, necessary tickets, and bottled drinking water.
Half-Day Tour Price:
The half-day session is 7500 for 1-2 people plus ₹1000 per additional person (up to 5).

Birdwatching in Port Blair: Half Day Tour
Generally involves one birding session. and can be done as either a morning session (3 hrs), an afternoon session (3 hrs), or a night session for owl watching (3 hrs)
Similar to our full-day birdwatching in Port Blair. Our bird guide will pick you up from the hotel at Port Blair. Then we travel to a forest habitat, usually in the morning. or wetland generally during afternoon sessions to spot birds like the Andaman Coucal and Andaman Shama. Andaman Serpent Eagle, Andaman Treepie. Changeable Hawk Eagle, Andaman Teals. Less Whistling Ducks. Yellow Bittern, Watercock, and Blue-eared Kingfisher.
For our Owl Watching Tour, we start the tour as late as 1700 hrs. and drive to a forest habitat, where we are likely to see Andaman Hawk Owl. Hume’s Hawk Owl, Oriental Scops Owl, though sightings are not always guaranteed; some nights we cover 3-4 species and some nights only 1 species.
