Thank you for your patience dealing with us😂. This is just the first trip of more birding trips to Andaman. Missed only seeing the elusive Andaman wood pigeon. Had a good experience staying at Hotel Rainbird suggested by Shakti. Hospitality, service, Food were all excellent. We had to start everyday at 5.30. Everyday we got our breakfast packed before that. We could watch and photograph almost all the endemic bird of the island. Plus other birds of the place. The trip was excellent in all respects. The staying, guiding, logistics and all. Covered most of the endemic species and the specialities of the Andamans. Loved the arrangements including accommodation and food especially the Rainbird Hotel was flawless. However, even a 5 star arrangement has further scope for improvement and the feedback remains incomplete if those are not touched upon - (1) more interaction and daily briefing on upcoming events/activities of the next day and (2) a little slower pace and more time in the field allowing little more time to enjoy the birds could make it even more magnificent. We booked a 2-day tour including an owl session on both days. I sent a checklist of birds I wanted to cover & photograph ahead of time and he was ready to craft an itinerary to help us achieve that and more - and we did, despite serious constraints on our time. Karthik’s knowledge of the birds on the island is top notch. He brought the perspective of someone who is more than a guide - he also has personal experience living & birding there and from his educational background as a zoologist. He was very fun to chill with as well and he showed us some of the local spots to get chai and snacks & gave other suggestions for things we could do during our stay in Port Blair. Our driver Ojas was also very professional and was interested in the birds as well. Only thing to note is that if you’re planning to try to cover most of the endemics in just a few days, it may be difficult - the locations are scattered all over the South Andaman island and there can be some not insignificant travel time.
