Birdwatching in Port Blair: Full & Half Day

Birdwatching in Port Blair prices vary according to the destination you wish to visit. Full-day tours are great value for money. However, the half day trips are of poorer value. because the guides usually end up doing large mileage even for such a short trip. But a short half day is best for people who wish to try birdwatching as an experience. Most people travel single or as couples. and sometimes they bring their own small group or families along. Price:

The Day tour is ₹8000 for a 1-2 person and extra ₹1000 per additional person (up to 4 people).

The cost includes an experienced naturalist, vehicle rental,  an experienced safari driver, hotel pickup & drop from Port Blair, necessary tickets, and bottled drinking water.

Owl watching extension (1700hrs-1930hrs): ₹2000 for a 1-2 person and  ₹ 500 additional per person (up to 4)

Birdwatching in Andaman : Full Day Tour

It generally involves two birding sessions. Morning session (0545-0900 hrs) in the forest habitat and an afternoon session (1430-1730 hrs) at wetlands.

Our bird guide will receive you from your hotel in Port Blair at 0545 hrs. We drive to Chidiyatapu for our morning birding session. You are likely to see Andaman Endemic birds, like Andaman Shama, Andaman Bulbul, Andaman Woodpecker, and Andaman Coucal. Andaman Drongo and some resident birds like Freckle-breasted Woodpecker, Ornate Sunbird, etc. We then return to hotel at 09OO hrs

Post-lunch, we visit Sippighat wetlands at 1430 hrs. Here we see the Water birds and waders, namely Andaman Teal. Cotton Teal, Watercock, Pacific Golden Plover, and Red-throated Pipit. Long-toed Stint, Red-necked Stint, Whimbrel, Yellow and Cinnamon Bittern, Pin-tailed Snipe, etc. Our Bird guide will then drop you back at hotel after sunset.

Birdwatching in Port Blair: Half Day Tour

Generally involves one birding session. and can be done as either a morning session (0545-0900 hrs), an afternoon session (1430-1730 hrs), or a night session for owl watching (1700-1930 hrs)

Similar to our full-day birdwatching in Port Blair. Our bird guide will pick you up from the hotel at Port Blair. Then we travel to a forest habitat, usually in the morning. or wetland generally during afternoon sessions to spot birds like Andaman Coucal and Andaman Shama. Andaman Serpent Eagle, Andaman Treepie. Changeable Hawk Eagle, Andaman Teals. Less Whistling Ducks. Yellow Bittern, Watercock, and Blue-eared Kingfisher.

For our Owl Watching Tour, we start the tour as late as 1700 hrs. and drive to a forest habitat, where we are likely to see Andaman Hawk Owl. Hume’s Hawk Owl, Oriental Scops Owl, though sightings are not always guaranteed, some nights we cover 3-4 species and some nights only 1 species.

Price:

The half-day session is₹5500 for a 1-2 person plus₹1000 per additional person (up to 4).

The cost includes an experienced naturalist our vehicle, an experienced safari driver, hotel pickup & drop from Port Blair, entrance fee, and bottled drinking water. 

Booking & Payment:

 25% of the tour cost in advance is required to confirm your dates. You are welcome to pay the remaining during the tour.

Important: The day tours are aimed towards beginner birders and advanced birders on time-bound family holidays who want to get a glimpse of the Andaman avifauna. Its not an alternate for a dedicated birding trip, nor do we entertain a target list dating back to species last seen in the 1980s. Though we try to show as many species as possible, it will be down to a bit of luck during the session, and we can’t promise any sightings.
